Sinopsis
Dirigido por el destacado realizador cubano Humberto Solás el filme está inspirado en la novela homónima del célebre novelista Alejo Carpentier. El realizador ha manifestado acerca de este tema: "La novela de Carpentier constituye para mí la posibilidad única de hacer un filme que a la vez sirva de documento histórico y de sutil análisis de sicologías. Pocas veces en la literatura se ha dado un texto donde el ser humano aparezca tan complejamente imbricado en las redes de los acontecimientos. Es una Misa Mayor sobre la condición humana, sobre el destino de las ideologías y de las pasiones, sobre el ascenso, la decadencia y el reconocimiento de la voluntad de los pueblos".
Synopsis:
Directed by the outstanding Cuba filmmaker Humberto Solás, the film is inspired on the novel by the famous Cuban novelist Alejo Carpentier. The director has said about this film: "For me, Carpentier's novel is a unique possibility for directing a film which would simultaneously be a historical document and a subtle analysis of psychologies. Few times in literature there has been a text where the human being is involved in a net of events with such complexity. It is a High Mass on human condition, on the fate of ideologies and passions, on triumph and decadence, and on the acknowledgement of the will of the people".
